Edwin Henry Landseer (1802-1873)
Sir Edwin Henry Landseer was an English painter and sculptor. He created the lions on the Nelson Column at Trafalgar Square in London. His strength lies in the animal pictures, which he painted with extraordinary clarity and richness of detail, yet still gives them a little punchline in the end. Here, for example, with the two dogs, where the little dog with his impudence weakens the dignity of the big dog.
