according to Carlo Maratta (Maratti) (1625-1713), Picture, approx. 27 x 35 cm, 24 colours, Gobelin with petit-point-section
Carlo Maratta lived in Rome and, as a pupil of Andrea Sacchi, adopted the classicist style of his master. Maratta was a good portrait painter and particularly preferred religious subjects. He was one of the most appreciated decorators of the Roman churches, which preserve many of his works. His most famous painting "Holy Night" (original title "Mary with Child") is in the painting gallery of Dresden.
