according to Michelangelo (1475-1564), Picture, approx. 27 x 35 cm, 9 colours, 9 stitches/1 cm, petit point
Michelangelo was born in Caprese in 1475. Already at the age of fourteen he attracted the attention of the Prince of Medici. In the princely gardens, Michelangelo was able to study the works of great predecessors and further his own education. His first works were created in Florence, including "Saint Petronius". In 1496 he went to Rome, where he remained until 1501. During this short time he created "The Bacchus" and the "Pieta of S. Peter", completed in 1501. The sophistication of his marble sculptures is often interpreted as virtuosity. In 1504 he completed the great and much admired "David", which served as the model for our embroidery. We cannot enumerate the artistic career of the sculptor, painter and architect Michelangelo. A large number of statues and reliefs are the work of his masters. He died in Rome in 1564.
